Job Description

About the position
As an Education Programs Coordinator, you will support Hands On Atlanta’s education-focused programs. From recruiting our next cohort of AmeriCorps members to assisting with Discovery, our Saturday academic & enrichment program, you will play a meaningful role on Hands On Atlanta’s Education Programs Team. Relationship building, problem-solving, responsiveness, attention to detail, recruitment, and strong communication skills are just a few of the many skills you’ll bring to this role. This is a cross-functional position that will involve partnering with diverse internal and external stakeholders. In addition, you will support our signature events, including MLK Day and Hands On Atlanta Week. This position will work closely with the entire team, but most time will be spent collaborating with the other Education Programs Team Coordinator to support our expanding AmeriCorps cohort.

Key areas of responsibility include:

AmeriCorps Recruitment

  • Conduct outreach and publicize opportunities (i.e. create flyers, post positions, partner with colleges and universities, tabling, etc.)
  • Screen and interview applicants; organize networking rounds (aka group interviews)
  • Managing applicant database and communications with applicants

AmeriCorps Program Support & Evaluation

  • On-board and train AmeriCorps members and volunteer leaders
  • Conduct site visits to check on AmeriCorps members and program operations
  • Coordinate training sessions and team building activities; manage logistics for trainings
  • Update, disseminate, and analyze program surveys

Education Programs Coordination

  • Create summaries of anecdotal experiences and data for diverse audiences
  • Help with Education Programs team management and logistics
  • Serve as a Hands On Atlanta ambassador at community events
  • Support Hands On Atlanta’s signature days of service and special events

Preferred Experience

You might describe yourself as a relationship builder who loves supporting people and lending a hand. You have a knack for staying organized, responding to emails/texts/calls in a timely manner, and being personable. You’re more of a nonprofit generalist than a specialist. You volunteer for new challenges without waiting to be asked and you might describe yourself as ambitious, a learner, a jack/jill of all trades, a positive force, and someone interested in a career in nonprofit management.

As an ideal candidate, you will have:
• 1-3 years of professional experience, ideally at a nonprofit coordinating programs
• National Service program alum experience (i.e. AmeriCorps, Teach for America, Peace Corps, etc.) strongly preferred
• The ability to manage logistics and balance multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience collecting and analyzing data; Salesforce experience preferred
• Experience and comfort with Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel)
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); comfortable with public speaking
• The ability to work collaboratively on a team and independently on projects
• An eagerness to learn, contribute and grow; aka a growth mindset
• GA driver’s license with reliable transportation and comfort navigating the ATL metro area
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Passion for service and civic engagement
