Job Description

About the Position

As the Community & Civic Engagement Manager, you’ll help strengthen Hands On Atlanta’s impact across metro Atlanta by supporting nonprofit partners in building capacity, strengthening operations, and engaging volunteers through meaningful service opportunities. This role leads various Hands On Atlanta programs, including Hands On Hunger (HOH) program in partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB), drives volunteer engagement across a variety of initiatives, and playing a central role in executing signature events that bring communities together and create lasting impact. This role reports to the Associate Director of Community & Civic Engagement.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Hands On Hunger Program Management

  • Lead the ongoing management and growth of the Hands On Hunger (HOH) program and pantry cohort model, serving as the primary relationship manager for the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB).

  • Facilitate strategy meetings with the ACFB, quarterly trainings, on-site visits, check-ins, and evaluations to support pantry partners through their two-year cohort commitment.

  • Collect and analyze program data to evaluate impact and inform future planning.

  • Develop and refresh Knowledge Center resources while collaborating with Marketing to promote program opportunities and community impact stories.

Program Management + Community Engagement

  • Play a leadership role in the planning and execution of marquee volunteer events and days of service (including Hands On Atlanta Week, MLK Days of Service, 9/11 Day, and other signature initiatives).

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with nonprofit organizations, schools, government agencies, and community groups while supporting partners in achieving their volunteer engagement goals.

  • Support onboarding and membership renewal processes for nonprofit partners by helping maintain contracts, payments, communications, and compliance requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with the Marketing team to promote volunteer opportunities and partner initiatives across Hands On Atlanta’s network.

Volunteer Management + Operational Support

  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit, engage, and retain diverse volunteers and volunteer leaders while assessing feedback to strengthen the volunteer experience.

  • Serve as a primary resource on Hands On Atlanta’s volunteer management platform, supporting partners and volunteers through trainings and technical assistance.

  • Retrieve, compile, and analyze data needed for grant reporting, partner communications, and organizationalimpact tracking while helping improve systems and departmental workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 3–5+ years of professional experience in nonprofit management, volunteer engagement, partnership management, or related community-based work.

  • Experience managing projects, partnerships, or community engagement initiatives from planning through execution.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship management skills.

  • Experience collecting and analyzing data using platforms such as Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, Golden, or similar systems preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with the ability to travel throughout metro Atlanta.

  • Passion for service and civic engagement and enthusiasm for Hands On Atlanta’s mission and vision.

  • Hybrid work environment with regular in-community engagement required

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and remain on your feet for extended periods during events and volunteer activations
